What is the club all about?

A few words about our club

We are one of the premier off-road racing facilities in the country. At HNMC we have 3 tracks. These include a large dirt track which is suitable for 1/8th sized off-road nitro or electric vehicles. We also have an astro track dedicated to 1/10th electric off-road. Our third track is our practice area for bashing and beginners alike - it is for general use and we allow 1/8th and 1/10th vehicles. Found alongside our racing tracks is our extensive Crawler course.

The club has a large covered pit area with AC power for charging batteries. Other facilities include toilets, covered rostrums, camping areas, large car park, catering at race events, air compressor and Herts RC Models located adjacent to our site.

We are open for practice sessions every day 10am till 5pm - Practice info. Practice sessions are not available when race events or event preparations are running - view Event Calendar. Membership is available; offering discounts and other benefits.

We are an incredibly welcoming club and are always happy to meet new people; offering assistance and help where we can. Visitors are most welcome to watch and participate.

The club has a long history. HNMC was formed in 2007 at its current location. Previously the club was based elsewhere and called Sandy Nitro Model Club. The club hosts a full calendar of events throughout the year; club events, member events, regionals, nationals and special one off events. We are the only UK club to have hosted BRCA 8th and 10th Nationals at the same venue. In 2024 we have hosted 3 BRCA Nationals - 8th Ebuggy, 8th Nitro and 10th Electric. Previously we have also hosted an 8th Euro B.

Rock Crawling Information

Track size approximately 60m x 10m, located between the race tracks, with a new section above the 1/10th track.

The main route is laid out left to right, and has two numbered sections, starting in the bottom left corner, with many natural and man made obstacles to drive on and over.

There are multiple sub routes, so obstacles can be sessioned. The driving surface is a mix of sand/mud, rocks and wood work.

Lap times are as long as you make them, no decoder required. Just be careful where you step as the ground can be slippery and is off camber.
